Amitabh Bachchan to Own Mumbai Team in India’s First T10 Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament

Mumbai, Dec 18: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has announced his association with the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) as the owner of the Mumbai team. The ISPL is the country’s first T10 tennis ball cricket tournament that will be played inside a stadium.

Bachchan revealed his ownership of the Mumbai franchise on Monday through a social media post, inviting young and talented cricketers to register for a chance to play in his team. He also shared a promotional video of the ISPL featuring former India captain and coach Ravi Shastri, who is one of the core committee members of the league.

The ISPL aims to provide a platform for street cricketers who often go unnoticed and unrecognized, and give them an opportunity to showcase their skills on a bigger stage. The inaugural edition of the ISPL will be held from March 2 to March 9, 2024, in Mumbai. The tournament will feature six teams, each representing a city – Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Srinagar.

The other core committee members of the ISPL include BCCI Treasurer Ashish Shelar and Mumbai Cricket Association President Amol Kale. They expressed their excitement and optimism about the league, which they believe will bring a new dimension to the game of cricket and unearth hidden talent from across the country.

Bachchan is not the only Bollywood star to be involved in the ISPL. Earlier, Akshay Kumar had announced his ownership of the Srinagar team, making him the first celebrity to join the league. Kumar had also encouraged aspiring cricketers to register for his team and be a part of the ISPL.

The ISPL promises to be a thrilling and entertaining cricket league that will appeal to fans and players alike. With the involvement of Bachchan and Kumar, the league is expected to gain more popularity and attention in the coming days.
