25 posts at a glance
IIIT Pune, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, has issued two separate recruitment notifications for this drive. Together, they add up to 25 vacancies.
- Assistant Professor, 17 posts: six at Grade I (Pay Level 12) and 11 at Grade II (Pay Level 10). The Grade II appointments are contractual.
- Non-teaching Group B posts, 8 posts: six Junior Superintendents, one Junior Engineer (Civil) and one Junior Engineer (Electrical). All three posts carry Pay Level 6 under the Seventh Central Pay Commission.
The faculty posts are spread across Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Applied Science and Humanities. On reservation, Grade I has three unreserved, one OBC, one SC and one EWS vacancy, while Grade II has six unreserved, four OBC and one EWS vacancy.

Faculty posts: who can apply
A PhD in the relevant or equivalent discipline is the essential qualification for the Assistant Professor posts, along with first-class performance in the preceding degrees. Where an institution does not define first class, at least 60 percent marks or a 6.5 CGPA is treated as first class.
The two grades differ sharply on experience. For Grade II, a PhD is the prescribed essential qualification, with no minimum experience or credit-point requirement. For Grade I, candidates need a PhD plus either three years of post-PhD experience or six years of total teaching and research experience. Grade I applicants must also satisfy a requirement of 20 cumulative essential credit points.
Non-teaching posts: who can apply
For Junior Superintendent, applicants need a first-class bachelor’s degree with six years of relevant experience, or a postgraduate qualification with four years of relevant experience. For Junior Engineer (Civil and Electrical), candidates need an engineering degree with two years of experience, or an engineering diploma with five years of relevant experience.
The upper age limit for the non-teaching posts is 32 years, subject to applicable relaxations.
Application fees
The fee depends on the post and the candidate’s category, and it includes 18 percent GST. For teaching positions, the fee is Rs 2,360 for General, OBC and EWS candidates, and Rs 1,180 for SC, ST, female and PwBD candidates. For non-teaching positions, the fee is Rs 1,180 for UR, OBC and EWS candidates, and Rs 885 for SC, ST, female and PwBD candidates. Regular employees of IIIT Pune are exempt. For faculty posts, a separate application and fee are required for each post and department.
