Fresh graduates hunting for a foot in the door of financial services just got a clear opening. LIC Housing Finance Limited has started accepting applications for 232 apprentice posts under its Apprenticeship Program-010, and the window stays open only till November 1. The online application process began on October 20, so candidates have less than two weeks to get their paperwork in order.
The programme is a one-year, paid apprenticeship aimed squarely at freshers. It is not a regular job posting, and the company is upfront about that. What it does offer is hands-on exposure to home finance operations, a monthly stipend, and a credential that carries weight on any BFSI resume. For graduates who have been refreshing job portals for months, that combination is hard to ignore.
What the programme offers
Selected candidates will train for 12 months at LIC HFL offices in eight cities: Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. The monthly stipend is Rs 16,650 in metro cities and Rs 14,150 in non-metro locations. While apprentices are trainees rather than employees, a year of structured training at a housing finance major is a serious line on a fresher’s CV.
Who can apply
The eligibility bar is deliberately simple. Candidates must meet all of the following conditions:
- A bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognised university or institute, completed on or before October 1, 2026. The degree must not have been completed before October 1, 2001.
- Age between 20 and 25 years as on October 1, 2026.
- No ongoing, terminated or completed apprenticeship contract with LIC HFL or any other organisation.
The any-stream graduation rule widens the net considerably. Arts, commerce and science graduates are all eligible, which is unusual for a financial services opening and a large part of why this drive is drawing attention.
How to apply
The application is a two-step process, and the order matters. Candidates must first register on the government’s National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal. After that step, eligible applicants receive an email from the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance Sector Skill Council of India (BFSI SSC) with a link to fill out the detailed application form and pay the examination fee. Both registration and fee payment must be completed by November 1, 2026.
The examination fee depends on the category:
- General, EWS and OBC male candidates: Rs 800 plus GST
- General, EWS and OBC female and transgender candidates: Rs 600 plus GST
- SC, ST and PwBD candidates: Rs 200 plus GST

Selection process
Selection will run through an online written entrance examination, tentatively scheduled for November 7, followed by document verification and a personal interview. Offer letters are expected in the third week of November, with training commencing in the fourth week of the month. Candidates should treat the exam seriously: with 232 posts and a short application window, competition will be concentrated among those who act fast.
A quick reality check
An apprenticeship is training, not a job guarantee, and LIC HFL says so plainly. Nobody should treat this as a shortcut to a permanent post. That said, a year inside a housing finance company teaches skills that transfer directly to banks, NBFCs and fintech firms. Candidates should apply with the expectation of learning first and earning later, which is the honest way to view any apprenticeship.
