For thousands of young soldiers finishing their first term in uniform, the question of what comes next just got a clearer answer. Pocketful, a technology-led investing platform and part of the Pace Group, announced on Saturday that it will recruit Agniveers completing their four-year tenure under the Agnipath scheme, opening more than 40 civilian roles in its first phase.
What Pocketful is offering
The jobs will be spread across three cities: 20 in Delhi, 10 in Jaipur and 10 in Punjab. The roles cover human resources, administration and sales, three functions where the company says the discipline and teamwork learned in service transfer directly. Selected candidates will get role-specific training and mentorship along with their pay.
Sarvam Goel, founder of Pocketful, said the company wants to give Agniveers a clear answer to the question of where to begin after service. “Agniveers spend four of their most formative years learning discipline, teamwork and how to take responsibility when it counts,” he said. “We will invest in their training, give them room to grow across functions, and build careers that last.”

The company has been growing fast. Pocketful says its customer base has grown by more than 210 per cent, adding over 70,000 new customers since July 2026. It is already present in more than 10 cities and plans to expand into five or more additional cities over the next three months.
Why the timing matters
The first batch of Agniveers brought in about 24,400 young men and women across the three services in 2022. Under the original scheme, only 25 per cent of each batch is absorbed into regular service on merit, which meant more than 18,000 of the first batch were due to leave the armed forces by the end of December 2026, with exits phased from mid-November.
That picture changed this week. On 4 November, the Union Cabinet approved a two-year second tour of duty for Agniveers not selected for regular service in the first round, taking their maximum tenure from four years to six, with better pay and an enhanced Seva Nidhi package. The 25 per cent regular absorption rule stays unchanged.
So the first batch now faces a genuine choice: stay on for two more years in uniform, or step into civilian life. For those who choose the second path, the question is whether employers are ready. Pocketful is one of the first private companies to answer with named roles and numbers.
Other doors already open for ex-Agniveers
Pocketful is not the only option on the table. Governments at the Centre and in the states have announced a series of measures for former Agniveers over the past year:
- Paramilitary forces: a 10 per cent reservation for former Agniveers in constable and rifleman recruitment in the Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles, along with exemptions from some recruitment tests and a five-year relaxation in the upper age limit.
- State police and uniformed services: several states have announced quotas of up to 20 per cent, including Haryana, Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh, with others offering 10 to 12 per cent reservation or extra marks in police recruitment.
- Railways: a 10 per cent quota in Level-1 posts and 5 per cent in Level-2 and above non-gazetted posts, plus a 10 per cent quota in the Railway Protection Force.
- Defence industry: BrahMos Aerospace has announced reservations for former Agniveers, including 15 per cent in technical roles and 50 per cent in administrative roles.
What makes the Pocketful announcement different is that it is a direct corporate hire into mainstream business functions, not a reserved government post. For an Agniveer who wants a corporate career rather than another uniformed job, that is a meaningful distinction.
What Agniveers should keep in mind
The company has not yet shared a separate application link for these roles, so interested candidates should watch Pocketful’s official channels for the formal opening. A few practical points are worth noting in the meantime.
First, the roles are civilian jobs with civilian expectations. Military discipline and teamwork are real strengths, but HR, administration and sales each need their own skills, which is why the promised training and mentorship matter. Second, the location split is fixed for the first phase, so candidates should be ready to work in Delhi, Jaipur or Punjab.
The broader test is whether more companies follow. Around 18,000 young people leaving service in a short window is a large number for any single employer to absorb. It will take many such announcements, across sectors, to give the first batch a real choice of second careers. Pocketful has made a start, and for the Agniveers weighing their options this week, that start is good news.
