Jammu and Kashmir Bank has opened one of the biggest banking recruitment drives in the region this year. The bank has invited online applications for 1,397 posts of Probationary Officer and Banking Associate, and graduates domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir or Ladakh can apply online from 7 November to 26 November 2026.
The notification was released on 6 November 2026. With 343 officer posts and 1,054 associate posts on offer, this is a rare chance for graduates in the two Union Territories to enter the banking sector. The online examinations will be conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).
1,397 vacancies: how the posts are split
The bank has issued four separate advertisements, one for each post in each Union Territory:
- Probationary Officer, Jammu and Kashmir: 323 posts
- Probationary Officer, Ladakh: 20 posts
- Banking Associate, Jammu and Kashmir: 1,033 posts
- Banking Associate, Ladakh: 21 posts
In all, 1,356 posts are for Jammu and Kashmir and 41 are for Ladakh. Candidates must apply against the advertisement for their own Union Territory, and the domicile rule is strict: only domiciles of Jammu and Kashmir can apply for the Jammu and Kashmir advertisements, and only domiciles of Ladakh can apply for the Ladakh ones.
Who can apply
Any graduate can apply. The qualification is a graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government or the UGC. The degree must be held on 26 November 2026, so a result still awaited on that date does not qualify.
The age limit is counted as on 1 January 2026. Candidates must be between 20 and 30 years old, which means they should have been born between 1 January 1996 and 1 January 2006. Age relaxation applies for reserved categories, including 5 years for SC and ST candidates and 10 years for persons with benchmark disabilities. The Ladakh Probationary Officer notice also carries a one-time extra relaxation of 5 years for all candidates.
Pay, probation and bonds
A Probationary Officer starts at a basic pay of Rs 48,480 per month in the Junior Management Grade Scale-I, while a Banking Associate starts at Rs 24,050 per month. Allowances and other perks apply over and above the basic pay.
Selected Probationary Officers will be on probation for two years and will have to sign a service bond of Rs 2 lakh. Banking Associates will be on probation for six months, with a bond of Rs 1 lakh. Selected candidates will be
posted in their first-allotted zone for a minimum of five years.

Application fee
The fee has to be paid online by 26 November 2026, and it is not refundable. For Probationary Officer posts, the fee is Rs 1,200 for general candidates and Rs 1,000 for SC, ST, SEBC and PwBD candidates. For Banking Associate posts, it is Rs 800 for general candidates and Rs 600 for reserved categories. The fee is exclusive of GST, and payment can be made through debit card, credit card, internet banking, IMPS or mobile wallets.
How the selection works
Probationary Officers will face three stages: an online preliminary examination, an online mains examination with objective and descriptive papers, and an interview. The final merit list will be drawn from the mains and interview in the ratio of 80:20.
Banking Associates will be selected through a single online examination of 100 questions for 100 marks in 60 minutes, covering English language, quantitative aptitude and reasoning ability. Both posts carry a penalty of one-fourth of the marks for every wrong answer in the objective tests.
The bank has not yet announced the examination dates. Call letters, exam dates and results will be notified separately.
How to apply
Candidates should visit the official website of Jammu and Kashmir Bank at jkb.bank.in and open the Careers section to reach the application link. Before starting, keep a photograph, signature, left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration in English ready, along with Class 10 and graduation certificates. Registration involves creating a provisional registration number and password, filling in the form, uploading the documents and a live photograph, and paying the fee online. No change is possible after registration is completed, so preview the form carefully before submitting it.
With the deadline less than three weeks away, eligible graduates in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh should not wait for the last day. Portals slow down near deadlines, and a form submitted in the final hours risks getting stuck. Apply early and keep a printout of the e-receipt and the submitted form.
