The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has urged the general public not to visit Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, the day of the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple. The trust’s general secretary Champat Rai said that only those who have been invited or have a VIP status should come to Ayodhya on that day, so that no one faces any inconvenience or security issues.
The trust has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be the chief guest at the ceremony, and he has accepted the invitation. Modi will install the idol of Lord Ram in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple at 12:30 pm on January 22, in the presence of 4000 saints and seers from across the country and 2500 dignitaries, including representatives from 50 countries.
The consecration ceremony will mark a historic moment in India’s cultural and religious history, as it will complete the construction of the Ram temple that began on August 5, 2020, following the Supreme Court’s verdict on November 9, 2019, that settled the decades-long dispute over the site. The temple is expected to open to the public from January 23, 2024.
The trust has also requested the people to celebrate the occasion by organising programmes at temples across the country, and by lighting lamps and chanting the name of Lord Ram. The trust has expressed its gratitude to the people for their support and cooperation in the construction of the temple, and has appealed to them to follow the Covid-19 guidelines and maintain social distancing during the celebrations.
