If you registered for UP NEET PG Counselling 2026, today is the day the picture gets clearer. The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh, will release the Round 1 state merit list for NEET PG today, October 26, 2026, on the official portal upneet.gov.in. Candidates whose names appear in the list can move straight into online choice filling, which opens at 5 PM today.
The merit list covers state quota seats in MD, MS, Diploma and DNB courses in government and private medical colleges across Uttar Pradesh. Only candidates in the list can fill choices and take part in the seat allotment that follows.
Today is also a deadline-heavy day, so timing matters. Registration for Round 1 closes at 11 AM today, and the last date to pay the registration fee and security deposit is 2 PM today. Candidates who miss either deadline will not be able to take part in choice filling, even if they registered earlier.

Choice filling from 5 PM today: what to keep in mind
Choice filling is where many candidates lose out by rushing. Enter colleges and courses strictly in order of preference, because allotment follows that order along with merit, category and seat availability. Before locking choices, compare the courses on offer, check the fee structure of private colleges, and keep an eye on the service bond conditions that apply to state quota seats.
Fees and security deposit for Round 1
As per the official counselling brochure, the registration fee is Rs 3,000 and is non-refundable. The security deposit depends on the type of institution a candidate is willing to join:
- Government medical and dental colleges only: Rs 30,000
- Government and private medical colleges both: Rs 2 lakh
- Private dental colleges: Rs 1 lakh
Candidates who do not pay the applicable security deposit by 2 PM today will not be permitted to participate in online choice filling. Keep the payment receipt and the registration confirmation page safe, since both are needed during admission.
What happens after the merit list
After the merit list, the process moves quickly. Choice filling runs from today evening to October 30, the Round 1 seat allotment result follows on November 2, and admissions are completed in two spells in November. Candidates who do not get a seat in Round 1 should watch for the next round schedule on the same portal. Use only upneet.gov.in for notices and links: fake merit list PDFs and payment links circulate during every counselling season.
