The wait for lakhs of aspiring chartered accountants is nearly over. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) announced on Sunday, November 1, that the results of the CA Foundation examination held in September 2026 are likely to be declared by the evening of Friday, November 6.
The announcement, issued by the ICAI Examination Department, gives candidates a clear date to circle on the calendar. It also comes with a small but important caveat: the institute has used the word “likely”, which means November 6 is the expected date, not a guaranteed release time. Candidates should keep an eye on the official portal through the day rather than waiting for one fixed hour.
Once declared, the result will be available only on ICAI’s official result website, caresults.icai.org. Candidates will need two details to log in: their registration number and their roll number. Both are printed on the admit card, so it is worth digging that out now instead of hunting for it on result day.
When and where to check the result
According to the announcement, the CA Foundation September 2026 result is likely to be out by the evening of November 6, 2026. The scorecard will show the candidate’s qualifying status, along with the marks secured in each paper.
ICAI has not announced an exact time for the release. In past sessions, results have typically appeared on the portal in the evening, and the institute’s wording this time points in the same direction. The safest approach is to check the portal from the late afternoon onwards and to rely only on caresults.icai.org, not on third-party links circulating on social media.
How to download your scorecard
- Visit the official ICAI result portal, caresults.icai.org.
- Click on the active link for the CA Foundation September 2026 result once it appears on the homepage.
- Enter your registration number along with your roll number.
- Submit the details to view your result and download the scorecard.
- Save a copy of the scorecard, since it will be needed for the next stage of the CA course.
After downloading, candidates should check every detail on the scorecard carefully, including their name, roll number and marks. If anything looks wrong, the institute advises contacting the concerned ICAI authority immediately to get it rectified.
About the September 2026 examination
The CA Foundation examination is the entry-level test for students who want to pursue chartered accountancy in India. The September 2026 session was conducted offline, in pen-and-paper format, on September 2, 5, 7 and 9 at centres across the country.
ICAI now conducts the CA Foundation, Intermediate and Final examinations three times a year, in January, May and September. The September session’s Intermediate results were already declared earlier, on October 22, and the Foundation results now complete the picture for this cycle.
For students who qualify, the next step is registering for the CA Intermediate course. For those who do not make it this time, the January 2027 session offers the next chance, and the gap is short enough to keep preparation momentum going.
What to keep ready before November 6
- Your registration number and roll number, ideally noted down somewhere accessible.
- A stable internet connection, since the result portal tends to slow down in the first hour after declaration.
- A downloaded and printed copy of the scorecard once it is live.
- Patience if the site loads slowly: heavy traffic in the opening minutes is normal, and the result is not going anywhere.
November 6 is still a few days away, but the announcement itself is the signal candidates were waiting for. The countdown has officially begun.
