IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, has announced that it will start direct flights from Mumbai to Ayodhya from January 15, 2024. The new service will be the first of its kind between the two cities and will boost the connectivity and tourism potential of Ayodhya.
Ayodhya is a holy city in Uttar Pradesh that is home to the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, which was built by devotees after a long legal battle over the disputed site where Lord Ram is believed to have been born. The temple was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 5, 2024, amid tight security and high expectations.
The direct flight from Mumbai to Ayodhya will operate daily and will take about an hour and a half to reach the destination. The flight number will be IG 1010 for both departure and arrival. The ticket prices will start from ₹2,999 for economy class and ₹5,999 for business class.
IndiGo said that it is delighted to launch this new route as part of its expansion plans across India. The airline has already announced direct flights from Delhi to Ayodhya and Ahmedabad to Ayodhya, which will start from December 30, 2023. IndiGo aims to connect all major cities in India with its extensive network of over 600 destinations worldwide.

He also said that IndiGo’s new flights will provide ease of access to the city for pilgrims as well as other tourists who want to explore its rich cultural heritage and religious significance.
