Smartphone cameras have been climbing the megapixel ladder for years, but Oppo just decided to skip the queue entirely. The Chinese smartphone maker confirmed on Friday that its Find X10 series will launch in India on October 22, and the star of the show is a camera system no phone has carried before: three 200-megapixel sensors on a single device.
The Find X10 Pro Max will be the first phone in the country, and indeed the first anywhere, to pack a triple 200MP rear camera. Oppo announced the India date a day after the lineup’s global unveiling in Spain, making it clear that India is a priority market for the new flagships. The company has bet everything on one idea: that mobile photography is now the single biggest reason people buy a premium phone.
A camera setup nobody has tried before
The numbers on the Find X10 Pro Max read like a wish list. The main camera is a 200MP Ultra HDR shooter with a wide f/1.5 aperture, a 1/1.3-inch ISOCELL HPC sensor, a 24mm focal length and optical image stabilisation. Sitting next to it is a 200MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture, 13mm focal length and autofocus, which means it can double as a macro lens for close-up shots.
The third lens is perhaps the most interesting. It is a 200MP telephoto unit with an f/2.1 aperture, OIS and a 1/1.56-inch ISOCELL HP5 sensor. Telephoto cameras are usually where phone makers compromise on resolution, so a 200MP sensor here is genuinely unusual. All three cameras are tuned by Hasselblad, continuing Oppo’s long partnership with the Swedish camera brand.
For selfies and video calls, both phones get a 50MP front camera with a wide 100-degree field of view, which should comfortably fit group shots without the usual arm-stretching contortions.

The standard Find X10 holds its own
Buyers who do not want the top-end model are not exactly getting a stripped-down phone. The standard Find X10 also carries a Hasselblad-powered camera setup, led by a 200MP primary camera with f/1.6 aperture, a 1/1.4-inch ISOCELL HPE sensor, 23mm focal length and OIS. It pairs that with a 200MP telephoto lens at f/2.6 with OIS, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera at f/2.0 with a 15mm focal length and autofocus.
So across the whole series, the lowest-resolution rear sensor is still 50 megapixels. That is the kind of spec sheet that will give rival flagships from Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi something to think about this festive season.
More than just megapixels
Big sensors are only half the story, and Oppo seems to know it. The company is introducing two new imaging technologies with this lineup: LUMO Hyper Pixel and LUMO True Image engines, which handle everything from colour science to noise reduction. The Pro Max also gets DeepPix sensor technology, which Oppo says improves low-light photography.
Under the hood, the Pro Max is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 series chip, giving it flagship-grade processing for demanding camera workloads. The phones will be joined at the October 22 launch event, scheduled for 4:45 PM IST, by two more products: the OPPO Pad Mini Matte Display Edition and the Enco X4 wireless earbuds. Early buyers are also being offered a Rs 9 Privilege Pack with gift boxes and discounts.
The big question: price
Oppo has not announced India prices yet, and that is the one detail everyone is waiting for. The Find X10 series already went on sale in China last month, but Indian pricing rarely follows a simple currency conversion. Given the hardware on offer, expect the Pro Max to land squarely in the ultra-premium bracket, well above Rs 70,000, while the standard model should sit in the flagship killer zone.
What is clear is that Oppo is swinging hard at the festive-season buyer. With Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi all pushing their latest flagships, the triple 200MP camera gives Oppo a headline no competitor can match right now. Whether that headline translates into great photos, and great sales, will be answered on October 22.
