There is a Ferrari in Dwarka this week that does not sound like any Ferrari you have ever heard. It is quiet, it has four doors, and it is the most talked about car in the country right now. The Luce, Ferrari’s first ever all-electric car, has made its India debut at the Universo Ferrari exhibition at Yashobhoomi, and it is forcing even lifelong purists to look twice.
The show opened on 17 October, the first time the exhibition has ever come to India. After invite-only days, it opened to the public on 19 October and runs until 1 November.
The car everyone is walking past slowly
The Luce, which means light in Italian, is a four-door, five-seat electric car. That makes it two firsts in one: Ferrari’s first electric vehicle, and the first Ferrari that seats five. It is also the biggest Ferrari ever built, at 5,026 mm long.
The numbers are properly wild. Four electric motors deliver up to 1,050 PS in Launch Control mode, with 990 Nm of torque. Ferrari says it does 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and tops out at 310 km/h. A 122 kWh battery sits on a new 800-volt platform, and the claimed range is more than 530 km, though Ferrari says that figure is its own estimate and not officially certified yet.
The details reward a slow walk around it. The rear doors are hinged at the back, the wheels are staggered at 23 inches up front and 24 inches at the rear, and the claimed drag coefficient of 0.254 is the lowest of any road-going Ferrari. Even the car that looks like it slipped through a wind tunnel with the least resistance in Maranello’s history happens to be the one with no engine.
Designed with a little help from Apple royalty
The styling story is almost as interesting as the powertrain. The Luce was developed with LoveFrom, the design studio co-founded by Jony Ive, the man who led design at Apple for two decades, and Marc Newson. The body uses a two-part construction: a gloss-black passenger compartment wrapped in a coloured aluminium shell, with recessed LED headlamps and four LED tail lamps.
Inside, it mixes retro cues with modern screens, a 10-inch touchscreen and a 12.5-inch OLED instrument cluster. It is a strange and fascinating blend, part futuristic gadget, part Italian theatre.

What Universo Ferrari is, and how to see it
Universo Ferrari is Ferrari’s travelling immersive exhibition, and the Delhi stop is its fifth edition after Italy, Australia, South Korea and Thailand. Alongside the Luce, three cars are making their India debut: the 1,200 hp F80 hypercar, which pairs a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 with a hybrid system, and the 12Cilindri Manuale, a V12 with a simulated manual gearbox.
Also in the hall: the 849 Testarossa, the Purosangue, the Amalfi Spider, the 499P Le Mans Hypercar, the SF-26 Formula 1 car, a Classiche heritage zone, and Hypersail, Ferrari’s sailing project, appearing in Asia for the first time.

Why Ferrari is making such a noise about India
Ferrari’s chief executive Benedetto Vigna flew in for the opening and spoke about India as more than a market, calling it an important source of talent, partnerships and opportunities. That is not just ceremony. Ferrari has dealerships in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, with new showrooms planned in Ahmedabad and Chennai.
The timing makes sense. India’s luxury car market is at record volumes, and analysts expect the whole segment to touch around 58,000 units this year. An exhibition like this puts Ferrari’s future in front of a good share of its entire customer base in a fortnight. It is marketing, yes, but it is also a statement that the electric era of the prancing horse will include India.
Before you ask about the price
This is important, and Ferrari has been clear about it: the Luce is on show, not on sale. There is no India price, no homologation news and no delivery timeline. In Europe, the car starts at around 550,000 euros, roughly Rs 6.1 crore, and the India figure would be higher once import duty and taxes are added. Treat this visit as a preview of the future, not a buying guide.
