Hero MotoCorp has refreshed its Xtreme streetfighter family just ahead of the festive season. The 2026 Xtreme 160R 4V has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 1.27 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the refreshed Xtreme 250R is priced at Rs 1.98 lakh. Bookings for both motorcycles opened on October 17, and deliveries are scheduled to begin on November 1.
The headline grabber this time is technology. The Xtreme 160R 4V becomes the first motorcycle in its segment to offer cruise control, a feature that has so far been reserved for much bigger, pricier machines. Hero is clearly betting that everyday riders are ready for premium electronics, even on a 160cc commuter.
Price and variants: what you pay
The Xtreme 160R 4V comes in three variants. The Standard starts at Rs 1.27 lakh, the Pro is priced at Rs 1.37 lakh, and the Carbon tops the range at Rs 1.41 lakh. All prices are introductory ex-showroom figures for Delhi.
The Xtreme 250R, meanwhile, carries a single price tag of Rs 1.98 lakh and is offered in three colours: Carbon Black, Carbon Red and Carbon White. The 250R will be sold exclusively through Hero Premia dealerships, while the 160R 4V will be available at both regular Hero MotoCorp outlets and Premia showrooms.
Xtreme 160R 4V: a full electronics package
This is the most comprehensive update the 160R 4V has received since the 4V version first arrived in 2023. Power comes from a 163cc oil-cooled engine producing 17.1 PS, and the bike now gets ride-by-wire throttle, which unlocks three riding modes: Rain, Road and Sport.
- Segment-first cruise control: the big talking point, ideal for long highway stretches.
- New TFT display: a colour screen with Bluetooth smartphone pairing, turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, music controls and a gear position indicator.
- Panic Brake Alert: warns traffic behind you under hard braking, another first for the segment.
- TPMS: tyre pressure monitoring, borrowed from bigger bikes.
The styling has been sharpened too. Hero calls the design language Cybersharp, with muscular tank shrouds, a redesigned fuel tank shaped for better knee grip, and full LED lighting including a headlamp with an ambient light sensor, projector high beam and H-shaped daytime running lights.
Xtreme 250R: sharper look, clever suspension
The bigger Xtreme 250R keeps its 249cc liquid-cooled engine, good for 29 bhp and 25.3 Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. Hero says it can sprint from 0 to 60 km/h in 3.2 seconds, making it the quickest bike in its class.

The 250R’s party trick is mechanical, not digital: it becomes the first bike in India with a Frequency Selective Damper (FDS) rear monoshock. The setup uses an additional piston that mechanically adjusts rebound damping, so the bike can soak up rough patches without feeling floaty on smooth tarmac. Think of it as a damper that reads the road and adapts, with no electronics involved.
Hero claims more than 50 detail changes on the new 250R, including carbon-fibre hydro-dipped body panels, braided cables, painted alloy wheels with rim tapes and improved component finishing. The feature list mirrors its smaller sibling with cruise control, four ride modes (Rain, Road, Sport and Track), TPMS and a colour TFT console.
Why Hero is doing this now
Speaking at the launch, Anuj Dua, Chief Business Officer for the premium segment at Hero MotoCorp, said premiumisation remains one of the biggest growth opportunities ahead for the company, and that the Xtreme family is a key pillar of that strategy. The idea is simple: sharper products, more differentiation and richer riding experiences to pull riders up the price ladder.
The timing is deliberate. With festive buying at its peak and Diwali-season showrooms drawing heavy footfall, Hero wants the new Xtreme range on the floor when purchase intent is highest. Deliveries from November 1 mean buyers booking now could be riding their new bike before the month ends.
Should you wait or book now?
At Rs 1.27 lakh, the Xtreme 160R 4V undercuts most rivals with electronic rider aids, and the introductory pricing may not hold forever. The Pro variant at Rs 1.37 lakh looks like the sweet spot for riders who want the electronics without paying for the Carbon’s cosmetic upgrades. For those eyeing the 250R, the FDS suspension and the 3.2-second sprint make a strong case at Rs 1.98 lakh, though it remains a Premia-exclusive model.
