Mahindra and Mahindra has confirmed a busy first half of 2027. The company will launch five new vehicles by June next year, including four SUVs and a light commercial vehicle, as it moves to cash in on strong demand for its SUVs and close the gap with Tata Motors in electric cars.
The plan was announced by Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra’s auto and farm sectors, at the company’s second-quarter results briefing on Thursday. “We have five big launches that we are expecting in the first half of 2027,” he said.
What is coming, and when
The five launches break down into four SUVs and one commercial vehicle, and most of them already have a rough timetable:
- Scorpio Lifestyler pickup: due by April 2027, priced below Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom). It was shown in August this year and is built on the Scorpio N’s body-on-frame chassis.
- NU-IQ platform SUV: expected by June 2027. This will be the production version of the Vision S concept Mahindra revealed in August 2025, and the first model on its new modular NU-IQ architecture.
- All-new electric SUV: expected by June 2027. Reports point to the BE 07, which would sit above the BE 6 as the second model under Mahindra’s BE electric sub-brand.
- SUV refresh: an updated version of an existing model, also due in the first half of 2027. Mahindra has not said which one.
- New light commercial vehicle: details are still under wraps, but it is part of the same five-launch programme.
The Scorpio Lifestyler leads the charge
The first of the five to reach showrooms should be the Scorpio Lifestyler, Mahindra’s new lifestyle pickup. It traces its roots to the Global Pik Up concept the company showed in 2023, and it was unveiled in its production-ready form in August 2026.
Unlike the workhorse pickups Mahindra already sells, the Lifestyler is aimed at adventure buyers and off-road enthusiasts. Mahindra has confirmed prices will start below Rs 19.79 lakh, which puts it in the same conversation as premium SUVs rather than commercial pickups.

A new platform and a new electric SUV
The NU-IQ platform is the bigger long-term bet. Unveiled in August 2025, the modular architecture can support petrol, diesel, hybrid and fully electric powertrains, along with front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive layouts. Mahindra showed four concepts on it, the Vision S, Vision T, Vision SXT and Vision X, and production models are scheduled to start arriving in 2027.
The first of them is expected to be the production version of the Vision S, a compact SUV likely to sit above the XUV 3XO in Mahindra’s range. Test cars have been spotted on Indian roads for around a year, which suggests development is well advanced.
The electric SUV, meanwhile, is most likely the BE 07, a concept Mahindra first showed in August 2022. It would expand a battery-electric range that has already found buyers, with the BE 6 and XUV 9e leading the charge. Mahindra has not confirmed the name or shared specifications yet, so the details will have to wait for a closer launch date.
Capacity push behind the launches
New models are only half the story. Mahindra is also spending heavily to make sure it can actually build them. The company plans to raise monthly passenger vehicle capacity from 68,000 units now to 82,000 units by the end of this financial year, split between 70,000 conventional SUVs and 12,000 electric vehicles.
A further 10,000 units of NU-IQ platform capacity will be added at its Chakan plant, taking total monthly capacity to 92,000 units by the end of FY28. Around 14,000 units of the new capacity is being set aside just for the upcoming models.
Why it matters: the EV race with Tata
There is a second contest running underneath the launch calendar. Mahindra expects monthly electric SUV sales to reach 11,000 to 12,000 units by March 2027, a figure that would bring it close to Tata Motors, the current market leader in electric cars.
Mahindra plans to ramp up EV production to 12,000 units a month by February or March 2027, roughly a 50 percent increase on current volumes. The new electric SUV and the NU-IQ models, which can also be built as EVs, are central to that push.
