Toyota has given its popular premium hatchback a proper mid-life makeover. The 2026 Glanza facelift is now on sale in India, with prices starting at Rs 6.99 lakh and going up to Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the biggest update the Glanza has received since it first arrived in 2019, and Toyota has clearly done more than a cosmetic touch-up. There is a new three-cylinder engine under the bonnet, a longer equipment list inside the cabin, and for the first time, a Level 2 driver-assistance suite on the top variant.
The timing is interesting. Mahindra is busy launching the XUV 3XO ZNG in the CNG space this week, Audi is rolling out its new-generation Q3, and the premium hatchback segment is heating up again ahead of the festive buying season. Toyota clearly wants the Glanza back in the conversation, and the numbers suggest it has reasons to be confident.
New engine, new efficiency
The biggest mechanical change is the switch to Suzuki’s new 1.2-litre Z12E three-cylinder engine, which the Glanza now shares with its badge-engineered sibling, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. In petrol form, it produces 82 bhp and 112 Nm of torque, paired with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automated manual (AMT). The CNG version makes 69 bhp and 102 Nm, and here is the notable part: the CNG option now gets an AMT gearbox for the first time, alongside the manual.
Compared with the outgoing four-cylinder engine, output is slightly down on paper, but Toyota claims improved real-world fuel efficiency. Claimed fuel efficiency for the facelift is up to 24.77 kmpl, and the petrol engine also gets an idle start-stop function that cuts the engine at traffic signals to save fuel.
What is new on the outside
Unlike the Baleno facelift that arrived last month, Toyota has worked harder to give the Glanza its own face. There is a redesigned front grille with a hammer-head style bumper, a large chrome strip joining the two LED headlamp clusters, LED daytime running lights, and a reprofiled lower grille. The Toyota badge now sits on the bonnet, and new side skirts have been added to the profile.
Higher variants get new 16-inch alloy wheels (lower grades run on 15-inch steel wheels), LED tail lamps at the rear, a shark-fin antenna, and a floating-roof effect. There are seven colours on the palette, including two new ones: Digital Teal Green and Bluish Black. Cafe White, Enticing Silver, Gaming Grey, Sportin Red and Insta Blue continue.

Cabin gets the good stuff
Inside, the dashboard layout is familiar, but the upgrades are genuinely useful. The facelift adds ventilated front seats with new dual-tone leatherette upholstery, a wireless phone charger with a cooling vent beneath it, and a Clarion sound system with four speakers and two tweeters. A tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is now on the list too.
The existing kit carries over: a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, connected-car technology, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and analogue dials with a coloured multi-information display.
Level 2 ADAS arrives, but only on the top variant
Safety gets the headline upgrade. The new top-spec V(O) grade gets a Level 2 advanced driver assistance suite that includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and prevention, autonomous emergency braking and high beam assist. Six airbags remain standard across the range, along with a 360-degree camera, hill-hold control, electronic stability control and ISOFIX child-seat anchors.
That ADAS suite is a segment-first talking point for the Glanza, and it puts real pressure on rivals like the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz, which now have to answer with something more than price.
Variant-wise prices and rivals
The Glanza continues in five grades: E, S, G, V and the new V(O). Toyota has announced petrol-manual prices for all five, while prices for the remaining powertrain and gearbox combinations are yet to be revealed.
- E: Rs 6.99 lakh, petrol manual
- S: Rs 7.71 lakh, petrol manual/AMT, CNG manual/AMT
- G: Rs 8.73 lakh, petrol manual/AMT, CNG manual/AMT
- V: Rs 9.99 lakh, petrol manual/AMT
- V(O): Rs 10.49 lakh, petrol manual/AMT with Level 2 ADAS
The base E variant costs about Rs 26,000 more than the outgoing model’s Rs 6.73 lakh starting price. The Glanza continues to take on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Hyundai i20 and the Tata Altroz in the premium hatchback space. With the new engine, the ADAS suite and the first-ever CNG-AMT combination, Toyota has arguably given buyers the most complete Glanza yet. The warranty remains solid too: three years or 1,00,000 km as standard, extendable to five years or 2,20,200 km.

The Glanza has always sold on refinement and Toyota’s reliability promise. Whether it can pull buyers back from the SUV craze remains to be seen, but Toyota has played its hand well.
