The wait is almost over for lakhs of commerce students across the country. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is expected to declare the CA Foundation September 2026 result any time now, with education portals indicating that the announcement could come between October 23 and October 26. As of this morning, however, the institute has not issued an official confirmation of the exact date and time.
The result has become one of the most searched education topics in the country this week. The September 2026 CA Foundation examinations were held on September 2, 5, 7 and 9, and candidates have been refreshing the official result portal, caresults.icai.org, since Thursday. Live update pages on major education portals began tracking the result window on October 23, and student groups on social media have been buzzing with speculation about the exact announcement hour.
The build-up to the Foundation result has been sharpened by the timing of the CA Intermediate results. ICAI declared the September 2026 CA Intermediate results on October 22, and the announcement naturally raised expectations among Foundation candidates that their result would follow within days. Historically, the institute has often released the Foundation result close on the heels of the Intermediate result, though ICAI has not confirmed any pattern for this cycle.
Where to check the CA Foundation September 2026 result
Once declared, the result will be available on the ICAI result portal. Students should avoid unofficial links and check only the institute’s official channels. The portals to use are:
- caresults.icai.org, the official ICAI result website
- icai.nic.in, the institute’s main website, which also hosts result links
- The ICAI announcements page, where the institute posts the official result notification
Candidates are advised to keep two details ready before opening the result link: their registration number and their roll number. Both are required to log in and view the scorecard, along with the captcha code shown on the screen. Students should not share these details on public forums or social media groups claiming to provide early result access.
How to download the scorecard, step by step
The process is straightforward, but thousands of candidates trying to log in at the same time can slow the portal. Here is how to check the result:
- Visit the official ICAI result website, caresults.icai.org
- Click on the link for CA Foundation September 2026 Result
- Enter your registration number and roll number
- Type the captcha code displayed on the screen
- Click Submit to view the result
- Check the subject-wise marks and qualifying status carefully
- Download and save the scorecard, and keep a printout for your records
If the website loads slowly or throws an error, students should wait a few minutes and try again rather than assuming the result has not been released. Heavy traffic in the first hour after declaration is normal.
What is the passing criteria for CA Foundation?
Clearing the Foundation examination requires meeting two conditions at once. Under the current scheme, a student needs a minimum of 40 percent marks in each of the four papers and 50 percent marks in aggregate. Meeting only the aggregate requirement is not enough: falling short of 40 percent in even one paper means the candidate does not qualify.
The scorecard is expected to show the candidate’s name, roll number, registration number, subject-wise marks, total marks obtained and the final qualifying status. Candidates are advised to download and preserve a copy of the scorecard, since it is needed for Intermediate registration and other admission formalities later.
What next after qualifying?
Students who clear the Foundation examination can move to the next stage of the Chartered Accountancy course. Qualified candidates can proceed towards registration for the CA Intermediate level, subject to ICAI’s eligibility and registration requirements. Students should check the institute’s latest instructions on Intermediate registration, examination forms and mandatory documentation once the result is out.
For those who do not qualify, ICAI’s upcoming examination schedule offers the next attempt. The institute publishes the dates and rules for subsequent attempts on its official website, so students should rely on icai.org rather than coaching-centre circulars for the confirmed plan.
What the September 2026 Inter result tells us
While Foundation candidates wait, the Intermediate September 2026 result, declared on October 22, offers some context on this session’s performance. According to the result data released by the institute, 23.14 percent of candidates cleared Group I, 18.92 percent cleared Group II, and 13.21 percent of those who appeared for both groups passed.
The Foundation result is expected to come with its own pass percentage and, possibly, the topper list for the September 2026 session. Names, ranks and marks of toppers will only be confirmed after ICAI releases them officially.
