If you own a recent Vivo or iQOO phone, your next big software update is now close. Vivo and iQOO have begun the phased rollout of OriginOS 7, the Android 17 based update that brings a refreshed interface, smoother animations and a fresh set of AI tools. The first batch is scheduled for the end of October 2026, which means owners of the newest flagships should start checking their update screens now, while owners of older models will get their turn in stages running through February 2027.
OriginOS 7 was unveiled in China on September 16, 2026, and launched globally on September 22. A preview programme opened in India the same day for the Vivo X300 Pro and the iQOO 15, and the Vivo V80 and X Fold 6 already shipped with it out of the box.
First batch: who gets OriginOS 7 first
The first stable batch covers the newest flagships. For Vivo, the end of October list includes the Vivo X300, X300 Pro, X300 FE and X300 Ultra, along with the X Fold 5. For iQOO, the first phone on the list is the iQOO 15. That matches the pattern Vivo has used before: the latest flagships first, then last year’s flagships, then the wider mid range and budget lines.
A phased rollout does not mean every eligible phone gets the update on the same day. Availability can vary by model and region, so a first batch phone may simply get it a few days later in the same window.
Full phase wise rollout schedule
Vivo has split its rollout into six phases, running from the end of October 2026 to the end of February 2027:

iQOO has a shorter schedule, and it skips the end of December phase:

- End of February 2027: iQOO Z10x 5G
These dates are targets, not exact release dates for every handset. Carrier exclusive models may also follow a separate schedule, according to iQOO.

What is new in OriginOS 7
OriginOS 7 builds on OriginOS 6 rather than changing the whole interface. Vivo has focused on smoother animations, better multitasking and more customisation. Dynamic Translucent Material offers three transparency styles, Opaque, Transparent and Glass, and the notification panel can now be rearranged.
Personalisation gets a playful push. Wiggle adds ripple effects that respond when the phone is tilted. Pet Pals brings animated animals that appear on unlock and react to touch. Glint adds moving light beams to wallpapers, and StickIt lets users place stickers on lock screens and Always On Displays.
The AI tools are aimed at everyday work. Notes uses AI text recognition to turn handwritten notes, whiteboards and receipts into editable text. Recorder identifies speakers automatically and produces instant summaries. There is also a PDF reader mode, natural language file search, a multitasking space that keeps up to five tabs active, daily malware scans and tighter app permissions.
How to check for the update on your phone
- Open Settings on your Vivo or iQOO phone.
- Scroll down and tap System update.
- If OriginOS 7 appears, tap Download and install.
- Keep the phone charged and connected to Wi-Fi, then wait for it to restart into OriginOS 7.
Before updating, it is worth backing up important photos and files, and making sure the phone has enough free storage. Major Android version updates are large, and a Wi-Fi connection avoids a heavy mobile data bill.
