The wait is finally over for lakhs of school students across India. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the date sheets for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations 2027 on Friday, November 6, 2026, ending weeks of speculation about the timetable. Both sets of examinations will begin on February 16, 2027, a Tuesday, and every paper will start at 10.30 am.
More than 46.3 lakh students have registered for the 2027 board examinations, including over 26.5 lakh candidates in Class 10 and more than 19.8 lakh in Class 12. The board has published the full subject-wise schedule on its official website, cbse.gov.in, where students can download the timetable as a PDF without any login or registration.
CBSE said the date sheets have been released 101 days before the examinations begin, giving students a clear three-month runway to plan their revision. With the countdown now official, the next few weeks matter more than ever for students who are still balancing school tests, practical work and final preparation.

Class 10: major papers to plan around
Class 10 students will open their board examinations with Painting on February 16. Mathematics, both Basic and Standard, follows on February 17, which means the two most revision-heavy papers land in the first two days. Science is scheduled for February 22 and English papers fall on February 26.
The compressed start leaves little breathing room between the opening papers, so teachers advise students to finish formulae, diagrams and numerical practice well before the practical examinations begin in January.
Class 12: Physics first, then a long run to April
For Class 12, the examinations begin with Physics on February 16. Accountancy is scheduled for February 23, Chemistry for February 27, and English Core and Elective papers for March 5. Mathematics and Applied Mathematics will be held on March 9, Economics on March 16, Biology on March 25 and History on March 27.
The Class 12 schedule stretches across nearly eight weeks, ending on April 9, which is both a relief and a test of stamina. Long gaps between some papers give students time to revise, but they also demand steady discipline. Students appearing for competitive entrance examinations alongside the boards will need to map their preparation carefully around these dates.
Practical examinations begin on January 1
Before the theory papers, schools will conduct practical examinations, project work and internal assessment from January 1 to February 13, 2027. These marks count towards the final result, so students should treat practical files, lab records and viva preparation as seriously as the written papers.
Schools have also been asked to complete internal assessments within the window, and students in winter-bound schools have a separate practical schedule running from November 9 to December 6, 2026. If your school has not yet shared its practical timetable, check with your class teacher this week.
