JSW Motors is weeks away from its biggest moment yet, and the car that will carry the new brand into India has just given away its best-kept secret. Fresh spy shots shared on Saturday, October 31, offer the first clear look inside the JSW Combat, the rugged plug-in hybrid SUV debuting on December 4, 2026 as the company’s first standalone passenger car.
Until now, the Combat had only been seen from the outside, wrapped in camouflage on test runs around India. The latest images, credited to X user Pritish Suryawanshi, finally open the door. They show the cabin and dashboard layout, and they confirm what many had suspected: the Combat stays very close to the Chery Jetour T2 on which it is based, with only the badges and a few details changed for India.
First look inside: big screens, familiar layout
The most striking thing in the new spy shots is how complete the cabin already looks. The dashboard is upright and squared off, matching the SUV’s boxy character, and it is dominated by a large floating touchscreen at the centre, reported at 15.6 inches, with a 10.25-inch digital cluster behind a four-spoke steering wheel whose centre logo is still taped over.
The test car wears a dual-tone cabin, and the layout mirrors the international Jetour T2 almost exactly. That is good news for buyers, because the T2’s equipment list is generous: powered front seats with memory for the driver, ventilated seats, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, a 540-degree camera that even shows what is under the car, and Level 2 driver assistance systems. Six airbags are also expected.
JSW has not confirmed the final India feature list, and some items could change to keep pricing competitive. But the spy shots suggest no stripped-down version is planned.
Boxy, butch and built for presence
Outside, the Combat looks every bit the lifestyle SUV JSW wants it to be: a tall, flat-sided body, heavy wheel-arch cladding, an upright tailgate and a spare wheel mounted on the rear door inside a squared-off hard cover. Large 20-inch alloy wheels fill the arches and give the SUV real street presence.
If the Combat keeps the Jetour T2’s footprint, it will measure around 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,880 mm tall, putting it firmly in large-SUV territory. Earlier spy shots had already hinted at slightly revised headlamps and bumpers for India, plus Combat lettering in place of the Jetour badge at the front.

A proper plug-in hybrid, not a mild hybrid
Under the skin, the Combat is expected to use the Jetour T2’s plug-in hybrid system, and that is where it could stand out. The setup pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an 18.4 kWh battery pack and two electric motors driving the front wheels, through a dedicated 3-speed hybrid gearbox.
Combined output is rated at around 360 bhp and 610 Nm in the international model. More importantly for everyday use, the claimed pure-electric range is about 90 km, enough for most daily commutes without using a drop of petrol, while total range stretches to roughly 1,100 km.
Some international markets also get an all-wheel-drive version of this powertrain, but reports suggest India will initially get front-wheel drive only.
What it means for JSW Motors
The Combat matters far beyond one model. JSW Group already has a successful joint venture with MG Motor India, but the Combat marks its entry as a standalone carmaker under its own JSW Motors banner. The SUV was originally planned for a debut before Diwali, but the timeline slipped to December, and it is now expected to be assembled at the company’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility, with initial cars possibly arriving via the fully-imported route.
Pricing is still unconfirmed, but reports point to an expected range of around Rs 30 lakh to Rs 45 lakh, ex-showroom. At that level, the Combat would sit against premium five-seater SUVs while offering something most of them do not: a genuine plug-in hybrid powertrain with a big-screen cabin and a rugged, go-anywhere look.
More models are already in the pipeline. Reports say SUVs based on the Jaecoo J5 and the iCaur V23 will follow in 2027. For now, though, all eyes are on December 4, when the camouflage finally comes off.
